Having straight teeth is one of the most common wishes we hear about in dentistry.

The pursuit of the perfect smile often starts with the desire for perfectly aligned teeth.  Historically getting straight teeth in adulthood has been a long and expensive process but this is no more the case!

One of the most common orthodontic problems we see in adults is mild to moderate crowding of the front teeth, a problem we can now quickly and effectively resolve with the inman aligner!

This revolutionary appliance works in just 6 – 16 weeks and can be used to treat a range of minor orthodontic problems.

Watch this video to find out how the appliance works, if you’d like to book your FREE no-obligation consultation click here to request an appointment or call us on 01425 615080.

Cosmetic Bonding

Cosmetic bonding is a great solution for improving or modifying minor comsetic problems with your teeth.

Bonding can be successfully used to improve appearance, shape and colour of teeth.  It is effective in filling spaces and also offers a cosmetic alternative to amalgam (metal) fillings.

Bonding can be used to restore the appearance of teeth in areas of gum recession by repairing and protecting the sensitive root surface that has become exposed.

In some cases bonding is a cost effective alternative to crowns or veneers.

The procedure is very straightforward and usually involves a single visit to your dentist.  Yur dentist will prepare the tooth and place the resin material onto the tooth surface, this will then be cured using a special light and will then be shaped and polished to give a smooth and natural appearance.

Cosmetic bonding is one of the most straightforward and cost effective options for improving the appearace of your smile.  Unlike the use of crowns and veneers, the bonding process involves the removal of minimal tooth surface reducing the risks associated with preparation of teeth for crowns and veneers.  Bonding can be used for the treatment of a single or multiple teeth.

The materials used in cosmetic bonding can be suceptible to staining, more so than porcelain restorations and by its nature is much weaker and therefore has a shorter life-span than crowns and veneers.  As the material is weaker in comparision to porcelain alternatives it may not be a suitable option is areas under great load such as back teeth or people with bite problems, the material may fracture and break away natural tooth surface.

Cosmetic bonding is an effective option for minor cosmetic options or for front teeth, speak to your dentist about your suitability for this treatment.

Getting a Whiter Smile

Tooth whitening is a well known procedure that has increased in popularity over recent years.

The aim of tooth whitening is to lighten the shade of your natural teeth to give a whiter appearance.

There are several ways in which this can be achieved from kits you use at home to a procedure carried out in the dentists chair.

For many patients tooth whitening is a fast and cost effective way to dramatically improve their smile.

We promote the use of a professional tray whitening system, one that has been tried and tested and is approved by your dentist.

Tooth whitening is a straight-forward and simple procedure but it does give rise to various possible risks and complications and therefore should only ever be done on the recommendation of your dentist and under the supervision of a suitably qualified dental professional.

If whitening is something you are interested in the first step should be to consult with your dentist.  An evaluation will be performed to determine your suitability for the procedure and a discussion will take place about what results you can expect from the treatment.

Your dentist will then take some impressions to have some custom made whitening trays constructed and you'll be asked to come back about 1 week later to have these fitted and be shown how to use the whitening solution.

We recommend wearing the trays and the solution for an agreed period of time each day over the course of 1-3 weeks.  The results can often be seen quickly and once the desired result is achieved you can stop the treatment and top it up as and when needed.

It is important to remember that tooth whitening will only effect natural teeth so if you have any fillings or crowns/bridges then you should speak to your dentist about your opinions before commencing any treatment.

If you'd like to book your no-obligation whitening consultation give us a call on 01425 615080 or click here to request an appointment.
