Cosmetic bonding is a great solution for improving or modifying minor comsetic problems with your teeth.

Bonding can be successfully used to improve appearance, shape and colour of teeth.  It is effective in filling spaces and also offers a cosmetic alternative to amalgam (metal) fillings.

Bonding can be used to restore the appearance of teeth in areas of gum recession by repairing and protecting the sensitive root surface that has become exposed.

In some cases bonding is a cost effective alternative to crowns or veneers.

The procedure is very straightforward and usually involves a single visit to your dentist.  Yur dentist will prepare the tooth and place the resin material onto the tooth surface, this will then be cured using a special light and will then be shaped and polished to give a smooth and natural appearance.

Cosmetic bonding is one of the most straightforward and cost effective options for improving the appearace of your smile.  Unlike the use of crowns and veneers, the bonding process involves the removal of minimal tooth surface reducing the risks associated with preparation of teeth for crowns and veneers.  Bonding can be used for the treatment of a single or multiple teeth.

The materials used in cosmetic bonding can be suceptible to staining, more so than porcelain restorations and by its nature is much weaker and therefore has a shorter life-span than crowns and veneers.  As the material is weaker in comparision to porcelain alternatives it may not be a suitable option is areas under great load such as back teeth or people with bite problems, the material may fracture and break away natural tooth surface.

Cosmetic bonding is an effective option for minor cosmetic options or for front teeth, speak to your dentist about your suitability for this treatment.
