My Clear Aligner Journey- Part 1

Hi! My name is Emily and I am the Business Manager at Birchfield. As most people know Hamish offers a variety of treatments for straightening teeth and the newest addition to our cosmetic straightening options are Clear Aligners.  Over the next few months you will be able to follow my own personal journey with this treatment and you'll get a behind the scenes look at what is involved and how this treatment works.  I hope you enjoy my story :)

I have never been overly concerned with the way my teeth look, they are fairly straight and white but over the past couple of years I have noticed my lower front teeth moving.  Cosmetically this hasn't given me cause for concern as you can't really see these teeth, even when I smile but their new position is uncomfortable and I find it very difficult to clean between these teeth that are now very tightly crowded.

So you might think why on earth are you getting braces?  Well I want my teeth to be straight, obviously, but I also want to be able to clean between my teeth properly and to get away from this uncomfortable feeling I have.

Clear Aligners a great method of fixing minor-moderate misalignment of front teeth.  First we did some impressions and sent them to the lab technician who made a digital mock-up of my treatment outcome (see below).

My treatment should take around 14 - 16 weeks and will involve wearing a series of 5-7 clear aligners as well as having some adjustments made to my teeth to help them fit together in a better position.

The Clear Aligners are made from a super thin plastic, making them almost invisible and undetectable!

I am now waiting for my aligners to arrive back from the lab, as soon as they do I will share an update with some pics of them in place so you can see how invisible they really are!
