When you visit the dentist or hygienist you are in very close contact to allow for check-ups and treatment. At a time when social distancing is essential to minimise the spread of this virus we should be avoiding any non-essential contact and especially very close contact so routine dental visits must be put on-hold right now. Additionally many dental treatments require the use of tools like drills, ultrasonic scalers and polishes. These tools create an aerosol or spray which can put everyone at greater risk of being exposed to the virus. For these reasons UK Dentistry is currently on hold by order of the Chief Dental Officer and this means we cannot offer any face to face appointments for the time being. We are still at the end of the phone to provide advice and support in the event of any urgent dental problems and we will have the facility to refer you to a dedicated urgent care hub if you urgently need treatment.
